Romans, Art & Archaeology - Roman Vindolanda

Friday 29th - Sunday 31st May 10am - 4pm

As the Roman Empire crumbles an new breed of Legionnaire arrive at Vindolanda - meet the Praesidiensis hands on experience of arms and armour as well as the 'other side' of life in the Late Roman Army - equipment manufacture and repair, baking of rations, medical treatments explained and work with leather, wood bone and textiles.

But don't leave without making your own mark on Hugh Jart's (pun intended) massive 12 foot by 12 foot canvas - create a work of art for the Living Frontier. You might even pick up a few tips from the Illustrator who will visualise the everyday use of artefacts as they are recovered from the archaeological dig.
