Housesteads Roman Fort
Back to Life - Re-populate Housesteads!
Friday 29th May 5pm
Be part of this ambitious project to re-populate this iconic Roman Fort and help recreate the numbers that would have been here nearly two millennia ago. At 1700 we will be taking an aerial shot of the fort with as many people as possible within its Walls.
- Extend your day out at Houseateds for this once in a lifetime event or join our group in the Car Park at 1645 and you can get a electronic version of the picture after it is taken.
A Whiff of History
Friday 29th – Sunday 31st May 10am - 4pm
Based on organic matter, DNA, and scientific finds along Hadrian's Wall, the Bio Organisms Substrate Industries sponsors this event, showing it's new technology in a temporary lab being built at Housesteads.
You will be led by the nose to ancient times, recreating the scents, aromas and smells of bygone eras. Be warned - everything wasn't 'rosy in the garden' back then.
