The Border Reivers
Friday 29 - Sunday 31 May 10am - 5pm
In Tudor times the Anglo-Scottish Border was a home to lawless clans of the Border Reivers where a lifestyle of raiding and marauding was the only way to survive. Feuds and raids made in the name of their family clans such as Armstrong, Graham and Hall saw Scots and English Reivers take the same side; family clans that still populate the region today.
Swords, rapiers, spears and billhooks will be displayed as Reivers challenge each other to duals; the warden will invite children to try their hand at military drills, and a grievances will be aired at the Warden’s court on the 'Day of Truce'
